About the Blue Waves
The Blue Waves is our competitive swim team for children and teens ages 6 and up. We are very proud of our Blue Waves swimmers. They work hard and compete with all they’ve got. Many of our swimmers qualify for regional competition and we even send swimmers to YMCA Nationals.
The Blue Waves Swim Team embodies all of the core values of the YMCA: honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. These core values are the foundation of our team and are demonstrated in all team events, practices and competitions. We welcome swimmers of all levels from the novice swimmer to the national caliber athlete.
Our swimmers work hard, but more importantly, they have fun and develop their competitive swimming skills.
During practices, the swimmers are divided into multiple training groups based on ability and desire, which helps our coaching staff focus on the needs of all of our swimmers and best address their weaknesses while building upon their strengths. Each swimmer has a checklist that allows them to see their progress towards the next level.
We require all new swimmers to try-out prior to joining the team. All new swimmers must have the swimming ability of Fish or above. At this time, we have completed our try-outs.
