Lifeguard Training (Ages 15 & up)

Crash Course - American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

This course is an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification course. The purpose of this course is to train professional rescuers in the skills necessary to recognize and to provide lifesaving care to individuals in the water.

Prerequisites for the class are:

  • All participants MUST be present for all four days in its entirety.
  • All participants MUST be a minimum of 15 years of age.
  • All participants MUST be able to swim 300 yards continuously (consisting for freestyle and breaststroke) and surface dive to a depth of 9 feet and retrieve a 10lb brick and swim 20 yards.

In order to receive certifications, participants must be able to complete all practical skills and pass a written exam. CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications included.

Minimum of 5 participants needed in order for the course to run. We allow up to ten in the class.

*Spaces are limited.  A non-refundable payment must be made in order to secure your spot in the class.

**A Lifeguard Training Book and introductory letter will need to be picked up from the Aquatics Office prior to the start of class.  There is a homework assignment that will be due on the first day of class.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Recertification

This course is an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Recertification course. The purpose of this course is to recertify professional rescuers in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Prerequisites for the class are:

  • All participants MUST be present for all three days in its entirety.
  • All participants MUST be a minimum of 15 years of age.
  • All participants MUST be able to swim 300 yards continuously (consisting for freestyle and breaststroke) and surface dive to a depth of 9 feet and retrieve a 10lb brick and swim 20 yards.
  • All participants MUST have current certifications in: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

In order to register for the class, you MUST be able to complete the above pre-requisites.

**Participants MUST bring their pocket masks and lifeguard training books with them to class.  If you need to purchase either of these items, there is an additional cost.  They will be given to you on the first day of class.
