YMCA Recession Pledge
At the West Suburban YMCA, we have been caring for our community for 132 years, in both good times and bad. While no one can predict tomorrow, we can help you feel safe and secure.
If you register for one of our YMCA camps and you lose your job, we will refund 100% of your deposit, program or registration fee that you have paid to us. We can also help supplement your YMCA fees until you get back on your feet.***

In order to register for camp, all campers must have a current--both at time of registration and throughout camp--West Suburban YMCA membership.
Bus Transportation
Camp Chickami provides bus service between various stops in Newton and Camp Chickami for an additional fee. In the past, we have used the previous summer's camper data to determine the upcoming summer's bus route. We feel this has not been adequately meeting the needs of camp families so we are very excited to provide you with better service. New for 2010 we will be developing the bus routes based on the current summer's enrollment for each session. At the time of registration, you decide if you do or do not want a bus and will not be forced to select a specific bus stop. In the late spring, you will sent information about your child's bus spot, including location and times.
Camper Care
Parents have the option to enroll campers in camper care, an extended day program, for an additional fee. Morning camper care is offered at camp starting at 8:00am. Afternoon camper care is offered from 4:00-6:00pm at Camp Chickami and at the West Suburban YMCA.
Leaders-in-Training Program
This program is designed for leaders who are 14 years old and entering the 9th grade in the fall, who want to build leadership skills, learn to assume responsibility, develop group-work skills, improve peer relations, develop decision-making skills, participate in community service activities and much more. L.I.T.s spend time at camp, as well as participate in off-site adventures, such as white-water rafting and camping, or working on community service projects.
Junior Leaders Program
The Junior Leaders program is for those who have completed the LIT program but do not meet the 15 year old age requirement (as of June 15th) to be a Junior Counselor. Junior Leaders have the opportunity to shadow counselors, specialists or administration in the morning and then have the afternoons to participate in camp activities.
Facilities
Located in Wayland, MA, Camp Chickami has 22-acres of woods, trails, an athletic field, a swimming pool, basketball courts, indoor recreation facilities, a challenge course and more. Campers spend majority of their time in the great outdoors.
