Plugged In Teen Band Program

The West Suburban YMCA is excited to host Plugged In as a part of our new Teen Services Program. This band program is for children and teens in grades 5-12.

Plugged In uses music to teach kids about the importance of community, social responsibility, growth, creativity, learning and friendship.  Plugged In instills these values into all of the students and alumni. Full and partial scholarship are available for this program.

Auditions will be at the West Suburban YMCA on February 11th. Don't worry, no experience is necessary. To schedule an audition, please contact Chanda Gunn.

Newton Teen Center

The Newton Teen Center is collaborative effort between the West Suburban YMCA, The Newton Partnership, and the Newton Public Schools and is funded by a Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant [CFDA84.148L] from the US Department of Education, Health and Human Services, and Justice.

Located at the West Suburban YMCA, the center provides a welcoming and enriching community supervised by caring adults who provide resources, encouragement, and inspiration at no cost to the participants. Confidence, creative thinking, and respect for oneself and for one another are always encouraged and supported.

It's free. At the Y, teens can play basketball, swim, use the fitness center, play in the Rec Center (ping pong, air hockey, foosball and more), get help with homework and jam in the music/recording studio.

The Newton Teen Center partners with non-profits to provide additional programming, such as the Mentor Connection, Plugged In, Waypoint Adventure, Dreamfar High School Marathon Team and the City of Newton Youth Commission.

Please contact Chanda Gunn for more information or to volunteer for this program.
