Teen Center Hours

Monday-Friday, 5:00 - 9:00 pm

The West Suburban YMCA cares about teens. Together with the Newton Partnership we offer a safe place for middle and high school teens to hang out after school. Teens can play pool, foosball, ping-pong, video games, watch movies, work out, play sports, create music in the lab, or just hang out with friends.

The teen center also offers a computer lab, homework help and scheduled activities like boxing, cooking, gardening, basketball league and dancing. The qualified and caring staff members supervise the center and coordinate the activities. The West Suburban YMCA gives teens a safe place to call their own and a chance to connect with positive role models and adults who care about them.

This is a drop-in program and is FREE FOR ALL. We are located downstairs in the Rec Room. In addition to our regular drop-in hours, we offer special trips and workshops.

Email Tasia or call her at (617) 244-6050 x3043 for more information on joining the Teen Center.

We provide transportation to and from the Teen Center daily. See the full schedule

Work It Out Wednesdays are geared specifically toward our teens. In this program, you will learn the importance of exercising and nutrition so you can do better in school, live healthier lives and learn good habits. One of our certified personal trainers will coach you in various activities – from strength training to cardio to group exercise while discussing proper nutrition. You'll learn best food to eat before working out, after working out, and understand the importance of proteins, complex carbohydrates and good fats in the diet.

Wednesdays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm
How much do you really know about the food you eat? Where did it come from? How was it grown? Who grew it? When was it harvested? Take control and get hands on experience with growing your own food. Join the Teen Center and the Newton Community Farm to plan, plant and enjoy the new raised bed garden at the West Suburban YMCA.

Please help us collect the data we need to sustain the PEP Grant, which helps us to fund boxing and hip hop. You simply need to wear a pedometer or take a survey. Contact Tasia to participate in the next data collection or come by the Y on April 16th and 25th between 5-7pm. THANK YOU!

*Activity made possible through the Carol M. White Physical Education Grant (PEP)
